If you're looking to improve the apperance of your home for resale, or you just want an updated look for your own enjoyment, there are a few things you must consider before beginning any costly project.  Sure, you can spend a lot on something purely for the personal pleasure of having it - like that outdoor jacuzzi under the attached gazebo - or you can go the practical route and make an improvement that will increase your home's market value, such as repairing those shabby shingles.  Be forewarned, however, and don't expect to recoup your cost on both counts.  Many real-estate brokers agree that just because you put $25,000 worth of improvements into your home doesn't mean that your house is worth $25,000 more!  Exactly how much of your investment you'll recoup depends on a number of factors, such as the "big picture" housing market, the value of the homes in your neighborhood, when you plan to sell and the exact nature of the improvement.  Also, consider that the longer you live in your home after a project is completed, the less likely you are to recoup it's value.  Just try to convince a potential buyer that Harvest Gold is cutting Edge.

IS IT TIME TO "MOVE UP"?

With today's mortgage rates in the lowest range they've been for almost 30 years, you might be pleasantly surprised that you can afford that "move up" house now.  Using the equity you've built up in your current home, your carrying  charges may not be much larger than what you've been used to paying.  If you're curious to find out, ask a REALTOR to help you calculate carrying costs on a "move up" home.  It's also a smart move because the equity in your home will continue to grow and the value of a biggerand better home will be ultimately greater over time.  As wellm the pride of ownership in a bigger house will probably be even greater then you had when you bought your first home.  When you decide that moving up is the way to go, besure to enlist the services of a REALTOR.  Your options can be confusing at times, but a REALTOR can help you make the right choices. REMEMBRANCE DAY

Also know as Poppy Day, Armistice Day (the event it commemorates) or Veterans Day- is a say to commemorate the sacrifices of member of the armed forces and civilians in times of war specifically since the First World War.  It is observed on the 11th November to recall the end of World War 1 on that date in 1918.  (Major hostilities of World War 1 were formally ended at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 with the German signing of the Armistice)
